Wow! Time has REALLY, REALLY managed to get away from me. The holidays are always a blur, as is most of January due to family birthdays, etc. I did NOT plan on being away from the blog for so long.
Speaking of missing in action, I am going to relate the story of one of my great uncles, George Brunquist. George must have been an adventuresome spirit, as this photograph seems to show. He is in the back row on the right.
His adventures led him to joining Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during World War I. He and many of his infantry members lost their lives during the Battle of Vimy Ridge from April 9th to the 12th, 1917 in France. His tombstone is located in Givenchy Road Canadian Cemetery, Neuville Saint Vaast, France. According to his tombstone, which I visited in 2004, he received the Distinguised Conduct Medal.
